Morning Walk Studios is an independent film and television company founded by Jay Karas and Matt Marek.
We develop and produce original stories with the ambition to entertain, connect, and endure. Bringing together decades of filmmaking experience, entrepreneurial leadership, and an international perspective, we're building a home for distinctive projects and a library of stories worth owning.
Our approach is grounded in great storytelling and finding smarter ways to finance, make, and bring independent projects to a global audience.

Jay Karas Co-Founder / CCO
Jay Karas is a director and executive producer whose award-winning work spans film, television, stand-up comedy, and commercials. He served as EP/Director on all four seasons of Apple TV’s acclaimed Acapulco and holds the same role on Fox’s breakout hit Best Medicine.
His credits include Abbott Elementary, Ghosts, Superstore, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Parks and Recreation, and Workaholics, along with the features Break Point and Netflix’s The Main Event. He has directed numerous Academy Award and Emmy winners, as well as more than 25 stand-up comedy specials.
Matt Marek Co-Founder / CEO
Matt Marek is a serial founder and operator with a track record of building and scaling companies. He founded Good Neighbor at 24 and grew it into one of Virginia’s largest healthcare companies before its acquisition by Centerbridge Partners in 2021.
A speaker at Harvard Business School and an Inc. 5000 honoree, Matt has built and led organizations recognized by The Discovery Channel, Google, Adidas, Starbucks, and charity: water.
